Valbona Aliko

Prof. Valbona Aliko is a leading researcher in ecophysiology, environmental nanotoxicology, and biomarker-based risk assessment, with over 33 years of experience in academic research and higher education. She is the founder of the Ecophysiology Laboratory and the NanoEcotoxicology and Biomarkers of Response Research Group at NanoAlb, Albanian Academy of Sciences. Her research explores the biological impacts of emerging contaminants, including nanoplastics and engineered nanomaterials, within a One Health framework. She has authored 100+ peer-reviewed scientific publications, supervised 6 PhD theses, and coordinated national and international research initiatives. Prof. Aliko has an h-index of 20, h₁₀-index of 29, and nearly 2,000 citations, and serves as reviewer and editor for international scientific journals.

Hiroshi Aoki

Hiroshi AOKI received his B.Sc. (1996), M.Sc. (1998), and Ph.D. (2001) from the University of Tokyo. After 3 years as a postdoctoral researcher, he joined AIST in 2004. He is the Director of Planning Office for Zero Emission, Division of Energy and Environment. He is also Professor in University of Tsukuba (Collaborative), Professor in Wakayama University (Cooperative), and Visiting Professor in Keio University. He has contributed to rapid and simple biomarker sensing technology in the environmental and biomedical fields, focusing on target-selective detection realized by molecular recognition-triggered on/off switching architectures and specific materials. He has awarded Analytical Chemistry Award for Young Researchers (2009) and New Century Award (2025) from Japan Society for Analytical Chemistry.

Jose M. Costa-Fernandez

Full Professor of Analytical Chemistry at the University of Oviedo (Spain), Coordinator of the Research Group on Analytical and Bioanalytical Spectrometry, and Coordinator of the International Master’s Degree in Analytical and Bioanalytical Sciences. After earning his PhD in 1998 and completing a postdoctoral fellowship at Indiana University (USA), he joined the University of Oviedo, becoming Full Professor in 2018. His research focuses on nanomaterial-based optical (bio)sensors, elemental mass spectrometry for nanoparticle analysis, and bioanalytical instrumentation. He has supervised 19 PhD theses, authored over 170 scientific papers, 17 book chapters, 2 patents, and led numerous competitive research projects and industry collaborations. Recognized among Stanford University’s top 2% of scientists (2021-2025), he has received the 2024 ISN2A PROTEOMASS Career Award for his contributions to nanomaterial-based bioanalysis. He has also held major leadership roles in scientific societies, editorial boards, conference organization, and university management, including President of the RSEQ Specialized Group in Chemical Sciences and Technologies since 2024.

Yasuaki Einaga

Yasuaki Einaga received his BS (1994), MS (1996), and PhD (1999) from the University of Tokyo. After 2 years as a research associate at the University of Tokyo, he started a faculty career as an assistant professor in Keio University in 2001, where he was promoted to full professor in 2011. He has been also a research director of JST-CREST (2011-2014), JST-ACCEL (2014-2020), and NEDO (2020-). He was awarded "The Chemical Society of Japan Award for Creative Work" in 2016 and “Awards for Science and Technology” from The Commendation for Science and Technology by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in 2023 for his pioneering work in diamond electrodes. His research interests include functional materials science, photochemistry, and electrochemistry.

Arjan Korpa

Arjan Korpa is Full Professor at the University of Tirana, Albania, and a materials scientist specializing in the design, development, and advanced characterization of construction materials. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Siegen, Germany, graduating with the highest distinction (summa cum laude) for his research on the nanostructural engineering of cement-based materials.
His research focuses on the nanotechnology-enabled functionalization of construction materials, the design of advanced cementitious systems, bio-inspired materials engineering, and the development of sustainable binders through the valorization of industrial by-products. His work also explores functional natural, synthetic, and chemically modified materials for environmental and sustainability-related applications.
Prof. Korpa has authored and co-authored more than 50 peer-reviewed scientific publications, delivered over 80 presentations at national and international conferences, and is the inventor and co-inventor of two European patents in construction materials chemistry. His research combines fundamental materials science with innovative engineering solutions for sustainable and high-performance construction materials.

Kei Noda

Kei Noda received the doctoral degree at the Graduate School of Kyoto University (Japan) in 2002. After working as a Humboldt foundation research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research (Germany) and as an assistant professor at the Graduate School of Kyoto University, he became a lecturer and an associate professor in the Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering at Keio University, Japan, in 2013 and 2015, respectively. He has been a full professor in the same department since April 2021. His research interests include physical properties and application of various semiconductors such as carbon-based materials and metal oxides, as well as organic electronic devices.

Fetah Podvorica

Fetah Podvorica is Professor of Physical Chemistry at the University of Prishtina and Corresponding Member of Academy of Sciences and Arts of Kosova. Since 2014 he has been visiting professor at University of Paris, former University of Paris 7, and previously was visiting professor at Ecole Superieure de Physique et de Chimie de Paris (ESPCI); during the period 2003-2013. He did his PhD thesis at the University of Paris 7 in 2000 and his Habilitation he obtained in 2010 at the University of Paris 6. His research interests include: electrochemical or chemical modification of material’s surfaces with 2D organic thin layers and their use for different applications; the use of Electro-Fenton method for the degradation of organic pollutants in waste water. He has 2 patents, 1 book and 4 book chapters, 60 published papers in peer review journals, H index: 27 and over 6300 citations (scholar). He was Associate Editor in the Springer journal, Chemistry Africa and is member of Advisory Boards of several journals

Majlinda Vasjari

Majlinda Vasjari is currently professor in Analytical Chemistry Group at Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of Tirana. She obtained a Ph.D. in Chemistry at University of Tirana (1997, Albania) and followed various postdoctoral researches in various european universities supported by TEMPUS program, DAAD, Erasmus mundus, etc. She is/was coordinator of national and international EU projects (Erasmus+ Program, Twinning, Ceepus network, COST Action), as well as bilateral projects Albania-Italy, Albania-Turkey, etc. Her research interests include environmental studies and nanotechnology (designing sensitive and selective modified analytical sensors and biosensors using nanomaterials, biomolecules, plant tissue, etc). She has more than 60 published papers in peer review journals, 1 book chapter. Since 2020 she is Co-coordinator of the Albanian Unit of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (NanoAlb), next Academy of Science of Albania.

Kledi Xhaxhiu

Prof. Dr. Kledi Xhaxhiu is Full Professor of Chemistry at the University of Tirana, Albania, and Co-coordinator of the Research Centre of Nanotechnology NanoAlb at the Academy of Sciences of Albania. His research focuses on nanomaterials, electrochemical sensors, vibrational spectroscopy, and advanced materials for environmental and analytical applications. He has developed nanotechnology-based platforms for the detection of bioactive compounds, pharmaceuticals, and emerging environmental contaminants. Prof. Xhaxhiu has participated in and coordinated international research projects, including Horizon Europe and COST Actions, and has established collaborations with leading European institutions. He is actively promoting regional cooperation in nanoscience through NanoAlb and the nanoBalkan conference series. He is author of numerous scientific publications in the fields of nanotechnology, electrochemistry, and functional materials.

Hiroshi is a Project Director in Institute for Quantum Life Science in QST, Japan, and a Designated Professor in Institute of Nano-Life-Systems, Institutes of Innovation for Future Society, Nagoya University. He received his PhD in Medical Science from Nagoya University in 2010 (supervisor: Prof M. Hamaguchi), and PhD in Engineering from Tokyo University in 2011 (supervisor: Prof. K. Araki). His research focuses on the application of quantum nano sensors to advanced medical sciences such as regenerative medicine, cancer medicine, and cranial nerves medicine.
